Dennis J. Gemmell is the founder of Ecology Education Consulting, Inc. whose aim is to improve ecological literacy among students and teachers at K - 16 institutions, as well as with the general public. Dr. Gemmell received a B.S. from Villanova University, M.S. from the University of North Dakota and Ph.D. in ecology from Rutgers University. Over a span of 30 years, he has been actively engaged in ecology education. He held numerous college professorships teaching courses in ecology, animal behavior, field natural history, marine biology, environmental science and biology. He has been chairman of a high school science department and director of an ecological studies program with the United States Department of Interior. He has worked at a variety of environmental learning centers (museum, zoo and nature centers) designing and implementing ecology education programs and curricula. He has conducted botanical and wildlife ecology surveys and research studies. He is a member of numerous scientific professional societies, including the Ecological Society of America.
